R)ead mail..................Selecting this command will prompt you to enter
a message number to start the mail reading
sequence from. Choosing enter will take you back
to the first public message that you are eligible
to read, and from thereon take you message by
message thru the mail.
E)nter new mail.............Selecting this menu command will allow you to
leave a new message to someone on the system. You
will be asked who it is to, what the subject is,
and if it is a Private message. Once you have
confirmed that the system has the correct
information, the screen will clear so that you can
enter the text of the message. Using <ESC> will
stop the editor and ask if you want to save the
message.
N)ew personal mail..........If you were notified that you had New Mail waiting
when you logged on, and did not read it then, you
can use this menu command to read your new mail.
Mail S)earch................Will present you with another prompt that allows
you to search through all messages for a specific
addressee, sender or subject.
C)omment to Sysop...........Will allow you to enter a message to the sysop.
This message will be marked as Private, with a
subject of "User Comment" automatically. Using
this menu item is easier if you just want to make
a quick comment to the sysop.
L)ocate a user..............Selecting this menu item will allow you to
search the system records for another user.
Depending upon how the sysop has the system set
up, you may be able to scan a list of all users
of the system, and/or search for a user by name.

+ » FILES « +
+------------------+
D)ownload File(s)...........Will prompt you for the files you wish to download,
including extensions, as well as the transfer
protocol you wish to use (if you have not set a
default transfer protocol). Downloads from GHOST
using the Zmodem transfer protocol may be a
batch transfer of up to whatever number of files
the sysop has designated for the maximum.
U)pload a file..............Will prompt you for the name of your file to
upload, including extension, as well as the
transfer protocol you wish to use (if you have
not set a default transfer protocol). Once you
inform GHOST of which file you wish to upload,
you will be switched to Mail to leave a
description (private, to the sysop) of the file
that you are uploading. Once you have entered
and saved that description, you will be prompted
to begin your transfer.
F)iles Listing..............Depending on your access level, this menu item will
display a list of the files available for
downloading from the system in various formatted
listings.

+ » SYSTEM « +
+----------------+
P)age the Sysop.............Page the sysop, and request a livechat online with
him. Note that it may take up to 30 seconds or so
to find out if the sysop is available. If he is
not, you will get a message to the effect, and
will be returned to the main menu.
M)ode - ANSI OFF/ON.........This is a toggle type of menu item. If you are
currently in ANSI mode (i.e. ANSI displays are
turned on), you will see "M)ode - ANSI OFF", and
selecting M will turn ANSI display off for the
rest of the session, or until you toggle it again.
The reverse applies if ANSI mode is off, i.e. you
will see the menu item "M)ode - ANSI ON" and M
will toggle ANSI display on for you. This menu
item is not a permanent change to your user
settings.
Y)our Settings..............This selection will bring up a screen which allows
you to view and/or change your permanent user
settings on the system. You may update your
address and phone numbers here, change the default
ANSI status at log on, or set/change your default
transfer protocol. You can also change your
password from here (this is recommended to be done
frequently for security purposes).
B)ulletins..................Will present you with a menu from which you may
chose a bulletin to read. These are the same
bulletins that are shown to you (if new) at log
on.
H)elp.......................Presents you with this information.
G)oodbye....................To log off the system.
If you require additional help with any of the above commands, or anything
else on this GHOST BBS system, please feel free to leave a C)omment to the
Sysop, including times and numbers that you can be reached voice, so that we
can call you to explain the procedure or clear the problem.

| A NOTE ABOUT ACCESS LEVELS |
+---------------------------------+
GHOST BBS supports several different user access (security) levels. On this
system, a first time caller is given a security level of 1. This means that
he/she can send and receive mail, and can download files from the main
download library # 1. They are not, however, allowed to upload to the system
until such time as they are validated. This procedure normally takes a
couple of days, but may take longer depending on the sysop's free time to do
the validation. Once you are validated, your security level will be
increased to a 2, and you will be allowed to upload files to the system and
download form the other libraries.
Your user access (security) level is displayed at log on, and when you select
the Y)our Settings item from the main menu. If your access level remains as
"* New User *" for more than three or four days past your initial log on,
please leave a C)omment to Sysop mentioning that fact (I do sometimes simply
forget to do the validations...)
Thank you for calling this GHOST BBS system, and enjoy yourself....
